Below are three photos to give you an idea of how much product you will receive in each size package. We filled up each size bag with marbles and placed them next to a quarter to provide a clear representation. There are two different photos, one for standard spices/seasonings and one for herbs. Since many herbs are so leafy the same weight will fill up a much larger bag. This is why some of the herb prices seem a lot higher than the spice prices, but you are actually receiving more product.

The third image is of our 1 cup Bottle with Sifter next to a popular national brand found in most grocery stores. You can see that our bottle holds close to 2.5 times more product than the national brand bottle. Plus, ours often costs less! Please be aware some other online retailers only offer 1/2 cup(4 fluid ounces) bottles. We choose to offer double the size 1 cup (8 fluid ounces) bottles to give you the biggest bang for your buck!

We hope you can see from these images that regardless of which size you order, you are getting a lot of product and a very good value compared to the supermarket.

Gingerbread Men Cookies Recipe

These fun cookies are a family affair in the kitchen. Get your little ones to help you use cookie cutters to press out the cookies and then decorate later, too. Using the shortening called for in this recipe ensures the cookies will have a light, crisp exterior, a good puff and a soft, chewy center. Find molasses in the baking aisle, or with the maple syrups. Enjoy!

  • Yield: 4.5 dozen depending on your cookie cutter size

  • Level of Difficulty:Easy

  • Cook Time:15 Minutes

  • Prep Time:30 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup

    molasses

  • 1/2 cup

    maple syrup

  • 2/3 cup

    water

  • 7 cups

    flour

  • 2 teaspoons

    baking soda

  • 2 teaspoons

    ground Ginger

  • 1 teaspoon

    ground Allspice

  • 1 teaspoon

    ground Cloves

  • 1 teaspoon

    ground Ceylon Cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon

    salt

  • parchment paper, wax paper

  • cookie decorating frosting, available in the baking aisle*

Directions

Cream together the shortening and brown sugar in a very large bowl or stand mixer, it will be crumbly (see photos). Add in the molasses, maple syrup, and water.

Sift together the flour, soda, ginger, allspice, cloves, cinnamon, and salt in a separate bowl. Slowly add the dry ingredients in to the molasses mix.

The dough will be very thick. Press it together in to a large ball, and cover with clear plastic wrap. Stick in the fridge for about and hour to let the flavors develop, and have a little rest.

Line your cookie sheets with parchment paper. Set up your working area by lightly flouring a sheet of wax paper.

Divide the dough into 4 sections. Press out, then roll out until it is about 1/4 inch thickness. Use fun cookie cutters to press out shapes. Place on your baking sheets. Try not to overwork the dough, get all they shapes you can out of one roll out. They more you ball up the leftover pieces, and roll them out again, the more dry the dough becomes.

Bake each sheet at 350-degrees for 8-9 minutes for medium size cookies, 10-11 minutes for larger cookies. Don’t let the edges brown. Cool completely on cooling racks. Continue until all of the dough is used.

Decorate after they have cooled. Enjoy!

*I really like Betty Crocker Decorating Cookie Icing, usually “hanging” in the baking aisle. It tastes great for store-bough frosting and hardens very quickly, with very little fuss and muss! Shop early to get the colors you want.
