Split Peas Green

Also Known as: Pisum Sativum or Matar Ki Daal 

Origin: India 

Ingredients: Dried Green Split Peas 

Taste and Aroma: Earthy, sweet and pleasant. 

Uses: The foundation of traditional Split Pea soup.  Also use in - falafel, stew, sambar, dhal and pudding. 

Substitutes: Split Peas Yellow, Dried Vegetable Mix, Carrots Diced, Red Bell Peppers Dried and Spinach Flakes.

Fun Fact: Dried peas are much more common and practical than fresh peas because fresh peas have an extremely short growing season and shelf life. Some believe fresh peas are only good for a few hours after harvest!
