Also Known As: Pure Bergamot Extract
Taste and Aroma: Intense flavor, much sweeter than regular lemons.
Uses: Use in baking, beverages and for cooking. Try a few drops of this extract in your tea to make Earl Grey tea. While bergamot has a beautiful aroma and is perfectly safe when consumed as a flavor, we do not recommend that you apply this extract to the skin. The oil has been linked to photosensitivity in some people and could cause a skin rash.
Substitutes:Lemon Juice Powder
Fun Fact: Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) is a small citrus fruit, which grows primarily in Southern Italy around Reggio Calabria. Bergamot oil is also used in fragrances, candy making and aromatherapy. The Bergamot orange is unrelated to the herb of the same name.
