Below are three photos to give you an idea of how much product you will receive in each size package. We filled up each size bag with marbles and placed them next to a quarter to provide a clear representation. There are two different photos, one for standard spices/seasonings and one for herbs. Since many herbs are so leafy the same weight will fill up a much larger bag. This is why some of the herb prices seem a lot higher than the spice prices, but you are actually receiving more product.

The third image is of our 1 cup Bottle with Sifter next to a popular national brand found in most grocery stores. You can see that our bottle holds close to 2.5 times more product than the national brand bottle. Plus, ours often costs less! Please be aware some other online retailers only offer 1/2 cup(4 fluid ounces) bottles. We choose to offer double the size 1 cup (8 fluid ounces) bottles to give you the biggest bang for your buck!

We hope you can see from these images that regardless of which size you order, you are getting a lot of product and a very good value compared to the supermarket.

Epazote for beans

A great herb for traditional pinto and black beans- unfortunately it seems to always be supplied as raw dried plant full if huge sticks and stems- very tedious to clean- would like to see someone supply a clean finished product!

Nice flavor in homemade salsa.

I can my own black bean and corn salsa
This adds the perfect flavor. Also great when added to homemade taco seasoning.

Great for tea, not for seasoning foods you will be consuming.

The Epazote came in a large bag and smelled fresh. However, it had (as I thought it might) many large stems and not just the leaves. After picking the stems out, they probably represent 50% of the product. Since I'm using it to season beans, I had to remove these stems because they are too hard to eat and digest, even after cooking. If you are using this for tea, it's probably great. If you plan on using it for flavoring and plan on eating the Epazote, expect to out the stems or find another source. Some places offer a powder which is great for seasoning, but I haven't been able to find this recently.

Epazote in Albion, NY? Not likely!

My sister asked how did you find epazote in western New York? What would I do without My Spice Sage.
